Severin Sorensen, CPP is President & CEO of Sikyur.com, the premier security advisor to CSOs. For over twenty years, Mr. Sorensen has advised governments and multinational corporations on physical security matters.  Mr. Sorensen is author of Economic Misery and Crime Waves (2009) and numerous articles on CPTED and Situational Crime Prevention.  Mr. Sorensen is the Academic Program Advisor and Faculty Member of the Asset Protection Course 1: Concepts and Methods (APC-1) the core body of knowledge course for ASIS International (2008-2010); Mr. Sorensen is also Past Chairman of the Physical Security Council (2006-2007) of ASIS International, representing the largest organization for security professionals worldwide with more than 37,000 members (www.asisonline.org). He routinely advises thought leaders in the security industry on emerging trends in security, advanced video surveillance, outdoor perimeter protection technologies, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.  Mr. Sorensen is a Security Advisor to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Physical Security Emerging Trends in Technology.  Prior to founding Sikyur.com, Mr. Sorensen was VP, Business and Applications Development, for Westec Intelligent Surveillance Inc (www.westec.com), the largest remote video monitoring company in the US. From 1994 to 2005, Mr. Sorensen was President and CEO of Sparta Consulting Corporation (www.spartasolutions.net), a company he founded that performed security consulting, security systems integration, and remote video monitoring solutions that included www.onguard.net; Westec acquired Sparta in July 2005.  While President of Sparta, Mr. Sorensen held additional responsibilities that included being Program Manager of HUD’s Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) initiative from 1994-2002.  Mr. Sorensen served in the first Bush White House (1992-93) as a Special Assistant to the President and Regional Liaison, Bureau of State and Local Affairs, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).  Mr. Sorensen has consulted commercial industry, state and local governments, the US Government, Organization of American States, the World Bank, and other international bodies on security matters.  Mr. Sorensen earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification, being a board certified accreditation of ASIS International (1997).   Mr. Sorensen has also earned the M.Phil. Degree in Economics (International Political Economy) from King’s College, Cambridge University, England (1988), and B.S. degrees with honors in Economics and Political Science at the University of Utah (1986).

Robert J. Borghese is a corporate and transactional attorney in private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New York, New York. He specializes in providing legal and business advisory services to emerging growth companies in the technology, healthcare and financial services sectors.   Mr. Borghese regularly advises emerging growth companies on corporate strategic planning, debt and equity financings, and corporate legal and transactional issues including corporate mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. Mr. Borghese has co-founded several financial services firms including Stonehedge Funding, LLC, a real estate merchant bank. Mr. Borghese is a member of the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches courses on legal issues for growth companies in the Wharton M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A. programs. He is the author of M&A from Planning to Integration: Executing Acquisitions and Increasing Shareholder Value, published by McGraw-Hill in February, 2002 and forthcoming in a Chinese language version. He has appeared as a guest on CNBC's Power Lunch and CNNfn's Money Gang to discuss corporate and acquisitions. In addition, he has lectured extensively on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and legal issues for emerging growth companies. Mr. Borghese is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has an M.A. in financial economics from King's College, Cambridge University, England, and a B.S. in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Randy Atlas, Ph.D., CPP, AIA

Randall I. Atlas specializes in safety and security design and analysis and has done numerous security analyses for various sites, including several housing developments. He has a great deal of experience in CPTED design and development of plans based upon CPTED guidelines. He has extensive experience in training CPTED policies, particularly with premises liability issues and CPTED applications in Urban Planning. Dr. Atlas also has a great deal of experience with ADA guidelines, and their application to development and planning of CPTED-based designs.  Dr. Atlas is a registered architect and practitioner of criminal justice architecture, environmental security design, counter terror design, and infrastructure protection. An American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) Certified Protection Professional (CPP), he is an appointed member of the ASIS Security Architectural and Engineering Committee, and a faculty member at the organization’s annual Faculty Design Workshop.  Dr. Atlas has taught CPTED and criminal justice courses at four universities, the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Industrial Security. He has also conducted CPTED and security audits for many U.S. cities. Dr. Atlas has served as a consultant with the National Institute of Justice, National Institute of Corrections, and the Florida Department of Corrections. He has conducted ADA surveys for private and public sector clients, served as expert witness on hundreds of premises liability lawsuits, and spoken at numerous security conferences. Dr. Atlas also has published several hundred articles in industry periodicals and journals.

Benjamin M. Butchko, CPP, EE, MEE

Benjamin M. Butchko, CPP, CSC, is President and CEO of Butchko Security Solutions, a security engineering and risk assessment consulting firm. Butchko Security Solutions provides security solutions and security technology training for industrial and commercial clients in the USA and internationally.  He has performed security assessments and designed integrated security systems in the healthcare, biotechnology, energy, university, commercial property management energy sectors. In addition, security solutions for high profile executive situations have been developed and executed. He has developed entire security operations manuals and developed security system deployment programs for medical and international system integration companies. Through these efforts, he has demonstrated expertise in security risk analysis, conceptual design, detailed system design, sensor technology, access control, deterrent systems, reliability analysis, and training. Prior to starting Butchko Security Solutions, Mr. Butchko served as Senior Security Engineer for ExxonMobil's Global Security Department. In that role, he led the Security Engineering group responsible for developing security infrastructure guidelines for industrial, waterfront, offshore, and office complexes.  Mr. Butchko also worked at Sandia National Laboratories and Eaton Corporation as a Senior Member of the Technical Staff, Project and Product Manager. Responsibilities included lead positions for securing specialized weapons transportation systems and computerized logistics management systems.  Mr. Butchko is an honor graduate of Texas A&M University where he received Bachelor and Master Degrees in Electrical Engineering. He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through the ASIS International, is an active member and trainer for the ASIS Physical Security Council, where he serves as Secretary to the PSC, and he is also active the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), and the Energy Security Council.  Mr. Butchko is licensed as a Security Consultant by the Texas Commission on Private Security, License No. D01637.

Robert Metscher, CPP, CFE, CISSP

Robert Metscher is the CSO for Goodwill Industries Tachoma, WA.  Mr. Metscher is unique in that he has three core certifications of security: CPP, CFE, and CISSP, reflecting the security industries top three certifications for CSOs.  Rob Metscher left military service for the U.S. Army in 1993. Since that time he has founded Asset Protection Innovations focusing on retail security, executive security, cash-in-transit/secure storage, protection program development, risk assessments, investigations and protective intelligence. He has worked with such major retailers as J.C. Penney, Lord & Taylor, and Consolidated Stores prior to consulting in the cash-in-transit/secure storage industry. He earned a B.S. concentrating in Asset Protection and a Masters of Business Administration.  Rob in an active member of ASIS International and a Board Member of the International Foundation for Protection Officers, and writes periodically for various publications, some of which may be found on the Web.   Mr. Metscher's  experiences in open (retail) and closed (secure storage/cash-in-transit) operations have provided him with a unique outlook on protecting organizations. As a result he is able to weave protection into the culture of an organization with minimal impact. His approach differs primarily on his avoidance of product-oriented solutions that tend to focus on “stuff” that creates a false sense of security. His saying that, “We are secure only when we choose to be secure,” is founded in a belief that, while we need to take an active role in our own safety, we should not be a slave to it. Smart security allows us to live, work, and operate more comfortably rather than more afraid.
